GoogleMaps JSP Taglibrary

Google:maps
Credits and Thanks

I like JSP technology, and I like GoogleMaps™. To me it was a perfect match, creating an industry standard front-end to a leading edge technology, making it available to many developers without the burden of learning a whole new API or to many even a whole new programming language.

That being said, some of the functionality provided in the Google:maps taglibrary wouldn't be possible without the abilities and generosity of others. Here I want to give credit where credit is due and say "Thank you".

Mike William's Google Maps Page
Mike provided code that is the basis for the <googlemaps:label> and <googlemaps:insert> tags. Mike is a Google maps expert, has answered just dozens of my stupid questions (each one correctly, I might add) and is always gracious (meaning he hasn't yet pointed out to me just how stupid my questions really are). There is so much information about Google Maps on his pages that you are certain to find the answer to nearly any question you might have. Mike also does a bunch of work previewing each pre-beta release and warning us of the big changes that are coming. So...as map versions change and the Google Maps JSP Taglibrary continues to work, thank this guy, not me...

Ainda.info
Joaquin Cuenca Abela was kind enough to offer the Javascript code that maps the mousewheel to the zoom function. While it currently only works with version 1 of the GoogleMaps™ API (due to major version changes at Google™) work is already underway to duplicate the functionality for version 2.

Tripmojo.com
Kapil at tripmojo.com provided the Javascript function for drawing circles. If you get a chance, check out the source code of our homepage map. It's some pretty good scripting! (We had to change it just a touch to get it to match the rest of our output).

Jef Poskanzer
Jeff Poskanzer provided the Clusterer.js and Clusterer2.js code used by the <googlemaps:cluster> tag. It's shows some pretty advanced scripting and was very easy to incorporate. Thanks!

Brian Flood
Thanks to Brian Flood who provided the base for the wms1.js file used to import WMS map layers.

John Deck
John Deck provided the base code the the wms2.js file. Thanks a ton!

Daylightmap.com
The daylight overlay capability is provided courtesy of daylightmap.com. They provide the script as well as the tile overlays from their server. You should drop them a line to tell them how cool it is!

Google.com
Of course none of this would be possible without the great GoogleMaps™ API provided to the community by Google™.

Yahoo.com
US address geocoding services are provided courtesy of the Yahoo Geocode API, a free service provided by Yahoo™.

Maporama.com
International address geocoding services are provided courtesy of Maporama™.

Google-Maps-API Google Group
There are a host of very intelligent men and women ready to lend a hand whenever your map goes "boom!".
