butyl (byu' - tul): is produced by copolymerizing isobutylene with small amounts of isoprene. These rubbers have excellent impermeability to gases, outstanding dielectric properties, good resistance to tearing, good aging properties at elevated temperatures and good chemical stability.
gasket (gas'-ket): static seal made from deformable material and compressed between plane surfaces.
- Function:
-
To provide a high performance seal between irregular surfaces, especially those prone to water damage, like wood.
Butyl gaskets combine the gasket properties of neoprene or polyethylene, with the sealing capabilities
of butyl rubber. Used mostly to protect the cut ends of wood, like threshold ends or wood window frame corners, or irregular joints
between two no-plyable materials, like the frame corner of an aluminum window.
- Application:
-
Butyl sealing gaskets come cut to size. Simply peel from the release liner, press into place and assemble
as normal.
- Put-up:
-
Butyl sealing gasket are provided kiss cut in rolls and packaged in cartons.
- Materials:
-
LAMATEK butyl sealing gaskets are made from water, chemical and aging resistant butyl rubber, combined
with your selection of a polyethylene, neoprene or vinyl nitrile top substrate.
