Application Instructions for the Adchem SDL Muntin Tape System
- Clean glass with commercial grade window cleaner such as Windex™ to be free of oil, grease dirt, wood shavings, and dust.
- Do not apply primers or adhesion promoters recommended or provided by other adhesive tape manufacturers. Adchem’s product does not require liquid isopropyl or isopropanol silane enhanced pretreatment and cleaning.
- Clean muntin bar to be free of oil, grease, dirt, wood shavings, and dust.
- Due to the smooth surface of today’s paints, all painted metal should be abraded before the tape is applied; ensure that the surface is dry and that all dust is removed.
- Apply Adchem SDL Muntin Tape to the muntin bar using a 10 lb, 2" diameter roller or an automated system that applies similar pressure to the tape.
- Allow the tape to dwell for at least one hour before applying to glass.
- Do not remove the release liner from the taped muntin bar until ready for application.
- Use of a 1/32" spacer at the point the muntin intersects the sash will help center the muntin bar and avoid overhanging the bar onto the sash.
- For each separate section of tape, peel back a small portion of the release liner approximately 1-2 inches and fold off to one side without tearing or heavily creasing the paper liner to avoid tearing.
- Position the muntin bar or assembly in place. Muntin bars must not be longer than the edges of the exposed glass except as they may fit into the sash. The tape will not hold a muntin bar that is not correctly fitted to the sash dimensions.
- Do not apply pressure to the assembled frame until you have completely removed all the release liner.
- After all the release liner is removed apply a 10 lb, 2" diameter roller to each section of the muntin bars.
- Allow 1 hour before shipping to enable the adhesive to firmly bond to the glass.
- Do not apply adhesive tape to skin, cuts, or abrasions.
